Dubai is always ahead of its time, and now there’s an exciting new project coming to town that you need to know about — The Future Loop. Part of an announcement made on Saturday December 7, it was confirmed that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had approved the Dubai Walk Master Plan. A mammoth project with an expected completion date of beyond 2040, the scheme includes a new network of walkways and cycle paths to make Dubai more pedestrian-friendly. This is where The Future Loop comes in: a 2km elevated walkway set to be built in the area around Museum of the Future. Wrapping around some iconic landmarks, this route in the sky will mean you can seamlessly stroll between the iconic attraction, Dubai World Trade Centre, Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and any nearby metro stations. Between six and 15 metres wide depending on the location, the loop will be entirely enclosed, meaning you can walk through the air-conditioned space at any time of year. It will also include an additional 30,000 square metres of green open space and commercial units – walking from A to B will be quite the adventure. Source: TimeOut
