ABU DHABI UNVEILS FIRST OPERATIONAL VERTIPORT FOR 2026 FLYING TAXI LAUNCH

Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility) have inaugurated the UAE’s first operational vertiport at DRIFTx, a global event spotlighting innovative urban mobility solutions. The development marks a significant step in Abu Dhabi’s commitment to establishing a sophisticated air taxi network across the capital by 2026. The vertiport, a temporary facility aligning with industry standards and regulations from the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), shows Abu Dhabi’s strategy to develop one of the most advanced electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) sectors. AD Mobility, an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi (DMT), will oversee the regulation of this growing sector in collaboration with the GCAA.
